ESB exams
6th February, 2012
This year, for the first time, Packwood has introduced English Speaking Board (ESB) exams. The English Department has been busy helping 27 children from the 3s prepare for their exams which took place last week.
The exams involve pupils each presenting a talk on a topic of interest, reciting a poem from memory and reading aloud a short passage from a book – all in front of an external examiner. The topics chosen reflected the children’s wide range of interests: bee-keeping, shooting, street-dancing and The Goon Show were just some of their areas of expertise!
Although a daunting task for this first sent of candidates, most children came out of the exams with a smile on their face after several weeks of hard work and practice. We look forward to hearing of some good results soon.
