Choir sing Evensong at St Chad's
11th November, 2011
Packwood’s choristers enjoyed the opportunity to perform somewhere new this Thursday when they were invited to sing Evensong at the magnificent St Chad’s Church in Shrewsbury. Alice S and Beth C are two members of the Girls’ Choir who went along and they describe the evening:
“When we arrived we were greeted by Mr Leeke, a former Head of Music at Packwood, who showed us round the church. St Chad’s is a rounded church with a domed roof which helped our voices echo when we sang. We warmed up our voices to prepare for the service and then changed into our robes before processing in.
The whole choir sang the responses and Psalm 43 then the Girls’ Choir sang their Magnificat and the boys sang their Nunc Dimittis. We finished the service with a descant for Praise my Soul and then processed out. Before leaving, Mrs Boutwood showed us the church organ.
The whole evening went really well and it was a very enjoyable trip.”
