One Day Event

14th September, 2011

On Sunday 11th September we held our tenth annual Packwood One Day Event – always a popular occasion and this year was no exception with a very healthy turnout of keen young riders and their ponies. Sir Anthony Rigby, who has co-ordinated the event since it began, enjoyed being able to take more of a back seat this year as two senior girls, Tia Barlow and Cassie Bedford, very capably and efficiently took over the running of the day.

Dressage, cross-country and show jumping disciplines provided challenges of varying degrees for all participants but at the end of the day it was clear that everyone had enjoyed themselves enormously. The final winner was Sophie B on Billy who completed a faultless double clear in the show jumping and cross country elements and achieved a score of 21.8 in the dressage – the highest of the day. Simon W finished second on Freddie and third place was taken by Millie S riding Dandy.

As usual we are very grateful to the Berwyn and Dee Pony Club for the kind loan of their jumps for the show jumping element of the competition, to Trish Bridge who judged the dressage and to Matron Banks for providing First Aid cover.
