New staff roles

12th September, 2011

The new year at Packwood begins with some changes to the roles of current members of staff and the return of some old friends.

We are delighted to welcome back Mr and Mrs Onions this term after a four-year tenure at Heath Mount School in Hertfordshire. Mr Onions has been appointed Head of Classics, taking over a very successful department which consistently achieves excellent scholarship and Common Entrance results and engenders in so many pupils a genuine and enduring interest in the Classics. Mrs Onions will resume her role in the Games department helping part-time with swimming coaching.

Mr and Mrs Onions also take over the boarding house reins from Mr and Mrs Jones as boys' house parents. Boarding at Packwood is thriving with almost two thirds of pupils at the school opting to board and take full advantage of the huge range of evening and weekend activities and trips available to them, and to make the most of the school's outstanding facilities.

Mr Onions said "It is an exciting time for Ally and me to become boys' house parents at Packwood. The boarding accommodation is superb and we are delighted to be taking on a flourishing and happy boarding house from Mr and Mrs Jones who have been such dynamic and popular house parents. We are quickly getting to know the fantastic group of boys in the house and I’m sure that with the help and support of our dedicated team of matrons and landing tutors, we can build on the success of our predecessors and continue to make boarding at Packwood such an enjoyable and fun experience for all."

Other staff changes this term include the appointment of Mr Jones and Mrs Rigby as joint Deputy Heads. Also, Mr Weston takes over as Head of History and Mrs Nogues becomes Head of CDT. They are full of ideas and enthusiasm for their new roles and all at Packwood can expect exciting and innovative times ahead!
