Artists' work on show
23rd June, 2011
Four talented young Packwood artists have achieved success in two recent Art competitions.
The Millicent Kaye Memorial Art Competition is organised annually by Oswestry Rotary Club and this year attracted nearly 400 entries from 10 local schools. Head of Art, Mr Dougan was very impressed with the quality of the art work submitted and delighted that two Packwood pupils achieved recognition. Piers Merison from 4Class was awarded second prize in the Two Dimensional Art Work category and Dominic Ainsley (3Class) was Highly Commended. Both produced lively, colourful pictures based on a Circus theme and their work will be exhibited for public display at The Qube art gallery in Oswestry for two weeks from Monday 20th June.
Further success has been achieved by Zak Nicholas (3P) and Nick Yeoward (4Class) in Wrekin College’s Emerging Talent Art Competition 2011, which is open to Shropshire prep and primary schools. Zak’s atmospheric picture of sailing boats at sea won him first place in his age group and Nick came third with his skilfully executed cubist representation of a tiger. Their work has been on display in The Studio at Wrekin College during June.
