Sporty girls!
23rd April, 2010
Packwood girls have enjoyed their most successful year for sports scholarships, representative honours and results. Head of Girls’ Games, Kate Parry says, ‘In my 11 years at Packwood these girls represent the best sporting talent I have ever seen.’ With only one term to go can the success continue and the momentum build?
The winter term saw Packwood play an unbeaten series of hockey fixtures. In addition the team won the Denstone and Packwood tournaments and Tira Brown, Millie Powell, Cecy Price, Charlotte Edwards, Charlotte Greenway and Olivia Wade-Smith were selected for the Shropshire Under 13s squad. The successful hockey season culminated in Tira Brown and Charlotte Edwards winning places in the Midlands Hockey Elite Squad and Charlotte was also named Shropshire county hockey Sportswoman of the Year - a most impressive achievement bearing in mind she is still only 12 years old!
In the spring term Tira Brown, Immy Hill and Charlotte Greenway were selected for the North Shropshire Netball Satellite Academy. A total of 17 lacrosse and netball fixtures were played over the course of the term with the Packwood girls winning all but one. The netball team won the Sedbergh Netball Tournament and were crowned the Shropshire Under 13 netball champions. The lacrosse squad won the West Midlands Lacrosse Tournament at both Under 12 and Under 13 levels and they also won the Packwood Tournament.
Three of our talented top year girls have also been awarded sports scholarships to Moreton Hall where they will undoubtedly continue to make an outstanding contribution to the school's teams. Many congratulations to Tira Brown, Immy Hill and Olivia Wade-Smith.
