Talagerwyn excursion

16th September, 2009

1 Class recently enjoyed a two-day literary excursion to Talagerwyn in the foothills of Snowdonia. This short trip is organised annually by the Head of English to give the top scholarship form a break from their busy Packwood lives and allow them to enjoy a quiet time devoted simply to reading.

There are no set texts and the children choose a wide variety of books reflecting their diverse interests and personalities. They read prolifically - a staggering 5000 pages in total! They were blessed with good weather too and enjoyed playing, acting, stargazing and exploring the Welsh countryside in the warmth of this year’s wonderful Indian summer. All returned to school happy and refreshed and ready to throw their energies into school life and preparations for their forthcoming scholarship exams.
