Summer Concert 2009

27th June, 2009

Music is a hugely important part of life at Packwood and the busy year of instrumental lessons, practices and ensemble rehearsals culminates in the Summer Concert.

The concert is always a wonderful event showcasing the children’s talents and entertaining the audience with a wide variety of music. This year was no exception with 1W starting the evening off with ‘God Save the Queen’ on Thai angkloons followed by 1K performing an African piece called ‘Mbira Jam’ on the xylophones. The Guitar Ensemble played beautifully by candlelight and the Concert Band raised the roof with popular numbers such as ‘Disco Lives’, ‘1812 Overture’, ‘Soul Bossa Nova’ and ‘Sing, Sing, Sing’. The atmosphere in the theatre was fantastic and the evening was a huge success enjoyed enormously by both audience and performers alike.
