Scholarship success12th May, 2017
Topping the long list of this year's scholarship winners from Packwood's Year 8s is Gorn N who has achieved the exceptional accolade of an academic scholarship (Election) to Winchester College.
Headmaster, Mr Smith-Langridge, said, "Gorn has applied himself to his studies with extraordinary dedication during his time at Packwood and he fully deserves this success. The smile on his face when he heard the news has been one of my highlights of the term so far."
Gorn's award is one of no fewer than 24 scholarships and exhibitions won so far this year (please click here to see the full list). The bumper crop of awards is the highest number in recent years and includes a top Butler Scholarship for Poppy S among the nine scholarships to Shrewsbury School. Head Girl, Mary B and Head Boy, Angus H also achieved academic scholarships to their chosen senior schools, Repton and Rugby respectively. In all, the scholars are moving on to eight of the leading independent senior schools across the country, showing that Packwood is a prep school with a national reach.
Mr Smith-Langridge continues, "This year's outstanding scholarship results are yet again a true reflection of the breadth of education we offer here at Packwood. Not only have the children achieved superb academic results, they have also excelled across the full range of disciplines including Music, Sport and Drama. The children's results are testament to all their hard work over the years, and to the dedication and commitment of their teachers. I have no doubt that they will continue to achieve at the very highest level at their different senior schools and I offer my warmest congratulations to them all."
