Boarding

Packwood Haugh is predominantly a boarding school, and approximately two-thirds of the pupils in the main school are boarders (130-160). There are approximately 45 girl boarders and 100 boy boarders.
Packwood is the only prep school with a large proportion of full boarders for many miles around: Shropshire, Cheshire, Staffordshire, North Wales, Manchester, Merseyside.
All boarders are full boarders, although those in their first year of boarding (‘transitional boarders’) have the option of going home at weekends. Day children may board from time to time on an occasional basis, and day children almost always choose to convert to boarding before they leave Packwood. There are regular weekend Exeats, and parents are welcome to visit at any time.
The boy boarders are based in the main school, and the girls are separately accommodated in their house (Park House) in the school grounds. An experienced and caring team of house-parents and matrons look after the children when they are ‘upstairs’.
